Nursery for the Grandchildren
We started with the bold black and white combination of furniture as a foundation for this room. To add drama to the white crib, we had the crib ends and inside back upholstered in lieu of bumper pads. We brought in the client’s favorite color of Tiffany Blue and grounded it with the black chalkboard paint to tone down the feminine look and provide a creative area for the grandkids.
To give a whimsical look, the ceiling was wallpapered in a zebra print to pull together the black and white furniture. An upholstered cornice in zebra print and solid pattern compliments the ceiling treatment.
The client’s 30‐year-old wood hope chest was hand‐painted to be used for toy storage. A large crown‐molding shelf was added to the crib wall and painted black as a display for stuffed animals and additional accessory items. Stuffed animal heads were mounted above the crib for a fun look. The zebra print chair and rug complete the animal print theme. The large mirror, children’s upholstered chair, and play table set were added for functional use. The crib converts to a youth bed and twin bed for future use.
My client is thrilled with this room and looks forward to many nights of babysitting her grandchildren!
